Rescue Run 2024 a Fundraising Run in support of PCVGSAR

In July of 2020 Don Gunton found himself at the heaviest weight of his life (somewhere over 300 lbs) and needing to lose weight in order to have surgery to repair a hernia. In the end he lost over 100lbs and was able to have the operation. On the weight loss journey Don discovered a passion for running. On December 6

2024 Don will turn 50 and he wanted to celebrate this milestone by combining 2 of his passions running and Pictou County Volunteer Ground Search and Rescue so the idea of the rescue run was born. The rescue run is a fund-raising event where people will sponsor Don or any other runner that will be joining him on the

run, with all money going to support PCVGSARA. Don will be running, along with members of Pictou County SWATT run club, a 50 km loop and is inviting people to join in; folks may do all or simply join for a portion they are welcome to run, walk or bike. We are going to have a lead vehicle and a sweeper vehicle (both supplied by PCVGSARA) as well as water and aid stops along the route. The run will begin December 7, 2024 at 0800 hr at the PCVGSAR building in Little Harbour and will consist of a 50 km loop through the towns finishing back at the building. There will be phone numbers provided so that people may call or text to find out where the runners are at any time so they can come and join in or even so they can come and donate or encourage and cheer them on!
